Senior Manager – Asset Safety and Business Practices,
Aware Super

Cathy Barnett is a senior manager, asset safety and business practices in the direct asset oversight & enhancement team (DAOE) at Aware Super.

DAOE’s objective is to build asset management capabilities commensurate with increased ownership and management of real assets. Cathy’s role is to develop asset safety and business practice capabilities to support the growth of Aware Super’s direct assets in the property and infrastructure sectors, including direct asset due diligence.

Cathy joined Aware Super (formally known as First State Super) in January 2014 as manager, operational due diligence where she was responsible for conducting pre-appointment and ongoing due diligence of Aware Super’s investment managers across public and private markets.

Cathy has over 20 years’ experience in financial services having previously worked at Mercer Sentinel’s Sydney office, running portfolio transition management projects for superannuation clients, and prior to that Cathy worked in Mercer Investment Consulting’s London offices.

She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacology (Hons) from Leeds University and is a CAIA Charterholder.
