Max is currently responsible for leading, developing and coordinating the oversight programme of internal strategies at AustralianSuper. This includes providing advice and insights on portfolio performance, structure and supporting investment capability development.

He commenced his career in the early 1990s at Legal & General initially as an actuarial analyst before moving into quantitative analysis and research within its investment team. In 1997, Max joined the Boston-based GMO Group in Australia focusing on developing and managing the firm’s Australian equity business contributing to successfully growing these strategies to capacity with over $8.5b in FUM.

In 2007 Max co-founded quant equity boutique Continuum Capital and in 2013 merged this with Redpoint Investment Management. Max served as Redpoint’s CEO and senior portfolio manager equities from 2015 to 2022, assisting the firm to grow FUM to over $12b serving both institutional and retail clients.

Max holds a Master’s Degree in Economics majoring in Actuarial Studies and International Finance from Macquarie University in Sydney.
