Based in Sydney, James leads a team of 11 supporting Perpetual’s Australian boutiques (Perpetual, Pendal) for performance, attribution and investment analytics.
In this role he is accountable for directing all aspects of the investment analytics function, including developing and implementing a best practice investment analytics operating model – including through the Pendal integration.
James is a member of Perpetual Private Investment Committee – the investment decision making committee for Perpetual Private’s $20bn multi-manager and model portfolio business. He is also a member of investment oversight committees including as the founding chair of Trillium Asset Management’s investment performance and risk forum; and Perpetual Asset Management Australia’s investment review forum.
James joined Perpetual in January 2020 as Head of Investment Analytics & Risk, then reporting to Perpetual’s chief risk officer and leading investment risk and performance & attribution functions for Australia and build out for US-based ESG boutique Trillium Asset Management.
James has over 18 years’ industry experience, 13 of which in investment risk and performance roles based in Australia and the United Kingdom at firms including Janus Henderson, BlueBay Asset Management, and Invesco.
James holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance major) from Swinburne University, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
