Emma James is the executive director of data and technology and a member of the executive management team at Funds SA, a South Australian government owned corporation responsible for investment management for South Australian public sector superannuation funds and approved authorities.

Prior to joining Funds SA in 2016, Emma held roles at the Victorian Funds Management Corporation focused on investment risk, as well as building extensive international experience with Norddeutsche Landesbank and BlackRock (formerly Merrill Lynch Investment Managers) in London.

With a passion for embracing emerging technologies, and building capability in data informed investment decision making, Emma is a regular speaker and thought leader both at home in Australia and internationally.

Emma’s skills and experience are underpinned by degrees in both applied mathematics and computer science from the University of Adelaide (BMCSc and BMCSc (Hons)) and she has undertaken multiple leadership, professional skills and mentoring programs, building a robust future for the industry being a subject close to her heart.
